“Before I Hold You” — Music & Video Remake

Blog Entry #2 — September 23, 2026 “Before I Hold You” — Music & Video Remake

Sometimes revisiting an earlier project gives you the opportunity to hear and see it from an entirely different perspective. That was certainly the case with Elijah Creed’s “Before I Hold You.” Although we were pleased with the heart and message behind the original song, we eventually felt the record deserved another musical treatment—one that could bring even more emotion, warmth, and depth to such a personal subject.

The original version was great in its own right, but as time passed, we began hearing new possibilities for the production. Instead of changing the meaning of the record, the goal was to give the existing concept a fresh musical atmosphere that better complemented Elijah’s performance and the reflective nature of the lyrics. After completing the remix, we were extremely satisfied with the results. The new production gave the song renewed life while preserving the sincerity that made the original concept special. The visual side of the project also had some unfinished business.

An original music video for “Before I Hold You” was created back in January, but looking back, we realized the production had been rushed. Sometimes being excited about completing a project can make you move faster than the creative process should allow, and once we had an opportunity to evaluate the finished video more critically, we simply didn't feel it was up to the standard we wanted associated with Elijah's catalog.Rather than releasing something we weren't completely confident in, the original video was scrapped.

That decision ultimately created an opportunity for redemption. With more time, experience, and a clearer creative direction, Elijah was able to revisit the concept and give the story the attention it deserved. Instead of viewing the first attempt as a failure, we treated it as part of the creative process—a lesson in knowing when something needs more development and being willing to start again rather than settling.

The song also recognizes that becoming a father doesn't begin in the delivery room. Long before the first embrace, there is unseen internal work taking place. It means examining priorities, learning patience, confronting selfish tendencies, and realizing that another life will soon depend upon your decisions. It is preparation not simply for the arrival of a baby, but for the arrival of a new version of yourself.

That perspective became especially important when developing the new video. We wanted the visuals to capture those quieter stages of preparation—the anticipation of pregnancy, preparing the home, imagining future moments with a child, supporting the mother, and gradually accepting the magnitude of the responsibility ahead. These everyday moments help tell a much larger story about a father preparing himself to be present rather than simply waiting for the birth.

Elijah now feels much more confident in both versions of the project—the newly remixed record and the completely reimagined visual. What began as an earlier production we weren't comfortable releasing has become a project we're proud to officially add to his growing catalog.
