New App: Coming Soon — “Shift of View”
Verbal Substance is excited to announce that we are currently developing something completely new—our first AI-interface mobile application, called “Shift of View.”
For years, much of the creative direction behind Verbal Substance has centered on awareness, emotional intelligence, self-reflection, and encouraging people to look beneath the surface. Whether those ideas have been expressed through music, visual storytelling, literature, podcasts, or other creative projects, the objective has often been to leave people with something meaningful to consider. “Shift of View” takes that philosophy into an entirely new and interactive direction.
Unlike the content available through our website, “Shift of View” is being developed as an application for smartphones and tablets, giving users the ability to interact with it throughout their daily lives, wherever they may be. The idea is to create something accessible in the moments when perspective may be needed most—not simply something you sit down and visit at home. The concept behind the app comes from something almost everyone experiences: moments when our immediate emotions can make it difficult to see a situation from any perspective other than our own.
The concept behind the app comes from something almost everyone experiences: moments when our immediate emotions can make it difficult to see a situation from any perspective other than our own. Anger, disappointment, fear, frustration, embarrassment, rejection, and uncertainty can all influence how we interpret what is happening around us. Sometimes our first interpretation may be completely understandable, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is the only way the situation can be viewed. When emotions are running high, even a small shift in perspective can sometimes change what we notice, what questions we ask, and ultimately how we choose to respond. That is where “Shift of View” comes in.
Users will be able to open the app on their smartphone or tablet and type exactly what they're thinking, describe what they're experiencing, or explain an emotional conflict they're currently trying to process. It could happen while sitting at home after a disagreement, during a difficult day at work, while traveling, or simply during a quiet moment when something has been weighing heavily on their mind. Before reacting impulsively or making an important decision, the app will provide another perspective from which to examine the situation.
An important distinction is that “Shift of View” isn't intended to tell someone what to do. It isn't designed to declare that one interpretation is right and another is wrong, nor is it meant to make personal decisions on someone's behalf. Instead, its purpose is to introduce another viewpoint—something the user may not have considered while experiencing the situation from inside the emotion. Sometimes that alternative perspective may reinforce what the person already believes. Other times, it may reveal a detail they overlooked, encourage them to consider another person's position, or simply create enough distance between emotion and reaction to think more clearly.
The idea is simple: before deciding, look again.
The Meaning Behind the Concept Art
The artwork created for “Shift of View” visually represents that philosophy through two contrasting perspectives occupying the same circular space.
On the left, we see a man surrounded by dark storm clouds and rainfall. His head is lowered, and the overall atmosphere feels heavy and uncertain. This side represents the immediate emotional experience of a difficult moment. When we're inside disappointment, conflict, fear, or frustration, the storm can become the only thing we see.
The right side presents a completely different interpretation. A woman looks upward toward warm sunlight while surrounded by rows of growing corn. Rain is still present, but its meaning has changed. Instead of representing only discomfort or hardship, that same rain is also nourishing something capable of growth. That contrast is central to the entire “Shift of View” philosophy. The artwork isn't suggesting that the person experiencing the storm is wrong or that difficult emotions should simply be replaced with positive thinking. The storm is real. The rain is real. What changes is the perspective from which those conditions are being interpreted. One person experiences the rain as something weighing heavily upon the moment. Another recognizes that rain can also contribute to what grows afterward.
Because the app is being designed for smartphones and tablets, that opportunity for reflection can travel with the user. The circumstances and locations may change throughout the day, but the principle remains the same: before allowing one emotional interpretation to become the entire story, consider whether there may be another angle worth examining.
We are especially excited about this project because “Shift of View” represents Verbal Substance's first step into developing an AI-interface mobile application. It's a new direction for us creatively and technologically, but one that still connects naturally with the larger philosophy behind our brand. Our team is extremely excited about the possibilities and what we can learn from developing this first application. We also look forward to exploring additional AI-powered applications and concepts in the future that combine technology with creativity, reflection, and practical everyday value.
The app is still in development, and we'll share additional information regarding its features, supported devices, release plans, and availability as we move closer to launch. So be on the lookout for “Shift of View”—an interactive perspective tool designed to be within reach when those everyday moments arise.
